Chthonian

The Smiths of the Root. Born from the First Emanation of the Arbor's deepest roots, they are beings of Orkrin (Shadow) who find wisdom in transformation, entropy, and hidden potential.

The Law of Phytomorphic Resilience: When embodied, they forge vessels of dense, compressed Gloom-root—a fibrous, iron-hard charcoal wood. They appear as jagged, asymmetrical golems of black burl and root-muscle, often featuring hollows that reveal an interior void.

The Rite of the Lament: They trust people, not paper. They eschew written records, trusting their Kindred or Soulmeld Partner to carry their Ephemera. When a Chthonian dies, their inducer sings their history back to them. Because a singer may edit the song, a Chthonian evolves with every death, becoming a living legacy of their relationships.
